Lately this thread and a few steam roller hits have been providing me much pleasure.

Definitely! Astral Projection's " Trust in trance III " is probably my favorite album by them, worth revisiting many times for sure. It's probably their most important album as well, heavily influenced a ton of upcoming artists in the following years. Good stuff.

Infected Mushrooms new tracks just seem simpler than they used to be. They can't take to you nearly as far out as their songs from around 2000-2003 could. I've been on some journies whilst listening to old infected.

I love that really creepy feeling their older stuff had, it sounds seriously demented. All their tracks have that feeling of super deep tripping, where your mind is in another place, not state. The track I linked called " The Fly " is, in my opinion, probably their darkest track, right up there with Twisted, Where is S, and You don't exist.

/Edit :  At 5:15 in " The Fly " that effect is so chilling and odd. I recently learned how to replicate it on my Midi and can't stop playing with it, just sounds so freaky! You hear it all over that song, but at 5:15 is where it really shines and shows how far out it can really be.

Thanks for the advice man, I'll definitely be pulling those tracks off as soon as I get my external hard drive back. I hadn't heard The Fly before but it's definitely a nice track. That's a cool synth at 5:15, how do you usually do it? I was thinking you could detune it a little bit or automate the tuning but I like hearing how everybody makes their own sounds, helps me learn. :D I'd have to agree that the older IM is more "out there," especially once they started using more vocals. I feel like vocals bring you back to reality like if you're really going out there and then your brain has to process words and meanings it kinda pulls you back to being an ego-based entity or something like that.

I went to see a live Alex Grey painting with Telesma last night. It was fucking epic. I hadn't heard Telesma before really and I don't think I'd listen to them often honestly but they put on one hell of a show and they still play some cool music. Thought I'd share it with you all, this is from last year's Solstice Gathering.

Agreed. Distorted voices can be extremely trippy though, especially if you can't tell what they're saying when you're sober, so when you're tripping they take on all kinds of meanings that you're not even sure of. Like the weird voice effect in " Classical Mushroom ". Granted, they're not saying anything, but the effect is still really trippy

Yeah definitely distorted voices are awesome, I just don't like too much "humanity" in the vocals. Simon Posford is a particular master at distorting voices, in my opinion, and when you're tripping you can hear all kinds of alien sounds in them or sometimes they even take on new meanings.

:) Yes, he is quite an incredible artist. His paintings hold a deep spiritual element in them and they are incredibly technical as well. He has truly mastered his medium.

Disney : Introducing kids to psychedelics since October 16, 1923.

Wow I love you. I remember this surprisingly clear now from when I saw it as a kid.
It's a lot more enjoyable now.

I think I was just confused as a kid. By the end, I also think I forgot who Dumbo was.

Seriously though, no wonder I'm so fucked up.

Haha yeah, I remember watching it as a kid and not comprehending why "alcohol" would cause someone to see dancing pink elephants, especially since my parents would usually have a beer every night

Ahhh Disney...Subliminally guiding us towards the psychedelic kingdoms. I love how they didn't even try to hide it in Alice in Wonderland. She eats a mushroom, then experiences losing the ability to proportion size  Not to mention the flowers she finds start talking and singing to her. Cognitive fragmentation anyone?
