for melodeath fans, this album stands alone in Hypocrisy's work, I consider it far above the rest of their material & 90's albums in all to be honest, which should really say something for a 30 something year old metal head

As far as random amazing albums in the scene go, It's almost the same as dark tranquillity and the gallery, they just got it right on this album although its less known in the scene, thats for sure... even if this video has 2m views. The audience must be diverse and not as focused/well known in the metal scene as smth like dark tranquillity.

definitley a great cd, but i think this is my favorite song of theirs:

dunno why you think theyre not well known, though. im under the impression. theyre quite well known amongst mdm fans, especially as peter produces a lot of other bands so people are familiar with him

Dude, in england basically everyones just "heard of them" but haven't properly listened, but really I think it's due to the album I mentioned explicitly being some classic melodeth, and the rest being more old school death metal which is way more nieche, I don't like it so much, always into the mega brutal or technical or melodic side... I've gotten countless melodeth fans into this particular CD.. The Arrival.. Every song is great, they all grow on you over time too - one of the best albums to walk around with it playing in your ears. It's got an atmosphere of boss.

Will listen to that, properly, once I've finished on this sick track, production is something else on this one

Really hope I like that track you posted, and that it will give me another album of material to listen to. but I am a cynic after hearing other hypocrisy material, and all our tastes are (of course) so different with the amount of music we all grew up with. so we'll see

Edit: I like it, would love it live. It's still... less atmosphere and more old school death metal influence than my beloved The Arrival... it does have more clarity in guitars which I usually like, better musicianship in the material also which is always good for me.. but just less melody and ... somethings missing for me.. something about The Arrival is just sick.. I will check out the album just because I love hypocrisy and need more... I would advise you to do the same on the arrival, most actual hypocrisy fans dismiss it because it sounds different, but as we see on the views its got far more attention than their other stuff
