The fact that that many black people and mexicans listen to black metal has mind fucked me. I thought it was amazing to see like 3 or 4 black kids at a hardcore show up here for the longest time. They rarely come. But hardcore has many ties with hip hop and rap, at least lyrically.. I can see where the tie might come in. But black metal?
As for FSU and other crews, they arent that bad. Yeah they might start shit once in a while, but 90%+ of the time they only beat on someone who deserves it. So minding your business and not acting like a douchebag would keep you safe most of the time. FSU was originally formed in Boston to filter out the drug dealers and skin heads in the hardcore scene, so they aren't that bad of guys unless you fuck with them or their friends.
Gang members are a joke however. I had to deal with them when I was in middle/high school. Take away their weapons and then they cant fight for shit. But yeah I would watch out for them, because those gang members dont give a shit who they hurt.

and you have to remember that this is LA street gangs are part of our culture we invented street gangs here
we have all the typical bloods crips MS13 etc that just do stupid shit but most street gangs are local and based in looking out for each other like what krews are supposed to be
the krew kids that do come out here are from out of town and are used to being badasses they don't understand that being in FSU from Boston or Philadelphia gets you 0% street cred out here so it tends to be the krews starting shit to try and gain rep which in itself is stupid
I don't really like gangs or krews but by far the people who start more shit out here it's the krews FSU ins particular like to jump random people that they don't agree with but back down from any manner of fair fight
edge kids are also not very popular out here the main edge movement is in north hollywood and the valley but gangs make their money off of selling drugs which makes them hate edge kids making them act violently towards them making any real edge kids violent in kind so when you happen to bump into one at a show they are usually assholes
