The thing about the Albany area up here is, the scene kids and most people for that matter, are afraid to get near the pit. The people who go in the pit up here have had a rep for years of being just mean fuckers. Not to mention theres quite an abundance of FSU and DMS members up here... so violence tends to be higher here.
The scene kids who go to the real shows usually get trampled on pretty quick if they have the balls to go in the pit. Hell, even at some scene shows like Acacia Strain I've seen some guys go just so they have a chance of hitting some flippy hair kid in the face.
we go to shows at the Black Castle a lot for more extreme metal shows
it's in Inglewood so there is a large black community there and for some reason black people in Compton fucking love Black Metal so shows are usually around half black, then about 25% Mexican and 25% white
the problem is black metal kids are pretty fucking stupid and racist most of the times so it's very common for fights, stabbings, etc to happen in and around the venue
it's pretty fucking stupid and keeps most music fans away from good shows it also prevents these local metal bands from getting a following because they don't get the support that hardcore fans give up
we have almost no FSU or crews outside the SFV area because practically every neighborhood in LA has a gang and they don't really care who you are, if you are all wearing an FSU shirt they will assume you are another gang and just jump you so crews tend not to last long in areas like Long Beach for instance
it's good and it's bad because while I hate krews and it helps to keep them out, the gangs also are often much worse than the krews at shows because an FSU member might jump you with 6 people and hit you with a sock filled with a pool ball, a crip will just shoot you as you are walking back to your car later
