we already have chicago/deep/prog/tech/micro which all sound similar and can be confused
do we really need to call pop/electo/disco house also?

I admit its a useful blanket term and a lot of the music does have house elements/sub genre. But this can be applied to so much mid-tempo edm
pop/dance is more applicable than electro/house for a lot of it but I guess this was getting associated with r&b/rap stuff so they stuck with calling it house

Hard to pin point that. Coming from almost exclusively trance i am hardly an authority on house. But Ive always been more of progressive house fan. I am a sucker for melodic elements.
