The majority of the bigger names (MBV, Swans, GY!BE) haven't done Australian shows in over 10 years, and probably never will again.

Like Plebeian said, most of the bands haven't been here for a long time. MBV hasn't been to Australia since '91 and I'd happily pay that amount for one of my favourite bands, which I'll most likely never see again. The experience of seeing one of the most influential bands in modern history is certainly worth a dent in my paycheck.
