Train of thought is the concrete foundation on which the band was built. They were tryin to impress(which they did) with that album, then anything after that lost much effort by the band and wasn't half as creative. How can u even say that those are musically better? Play an instrument or expand ur horizons to REALLY know what is "musically" better.

TOT was a good album, musically i didn't like it. i thought it was to heavy to much of this heavy sound that i didn't care for.

SFAM was the best album, second to that images, third six degrees.

i'm not saying TOT was a bad album but it seemed after that album they did get worse. systematic was good but to much Metallica sound.

jordan rudess barely did the classic awesome shit with the piano, he always used that guitar sound. i crave another album like SFAM that was the best dream theater had ever sounded.

with this new album i feel like they tryed to get back to there roots. they still have a few elements i don't care for but the new album was good.
