I get what you're saying, and I think I'm pretty fair with my ratings... but I will take that into account. I don't totally decimate a rating if it's outside of my usual comfort-genre. As far as other people, who knows.

sounds like a great concept, and i'm sure there's not a lot of people that do that, but still, it makes you think twice about the rating given, and whether or not it is accurate

You don't have to pay attention to the overall rating, just give it what YOU think it deserves and move on. It's not definitive. It's just a good way to keep track of what you've heard.
