Thought I'd throw a controversial track in for the day... wink.gif

artist: Body Count
song: Cop Killer
genre: Punk f?!kin' Rock

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSvD5SM_uI4

Quibble about the genre if you like; the attitude is definitely Punk Rock. This track was surrounded by all sorts of controversy; so much so, that in later presses of this album, the label decided to pull this track.

Let's hear it for YouTube, and user-generated content. Heh. happy.gif

How you young bucks know about N.W.A. and Ice Cube, but not know about Ice-T is beyond me... mellow.gif

Looks like I gotta take it way back now...

artist: Herbie Hancock
song: Rockit
genre: Hip Hop

This track is, arguably, THE start of turntablism in hip hop.

artist: Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
song: The Message
genre: Hip Hop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3kRuJhIVIo

artist: Afrika Bambaataa and the Soulsonic Force
song: Planet Rock
genre: Hip Hop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h6pcqC6wrI

...and, interestingly enough, the melody in the background was borrowed from the influential electronic group Kraftwerk:

artist: Kraftwerk
song: Trans Europe Express

I'm feelin' like ramblin' with this one...

Starting off, we have an Industrial cover of a Rod Stewart song:

artist: Revolting Cocks
song: Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?
genre: Industrial

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy-7lUqPr8w

the vocals of which were laid down by Alain Jourgensen of Ministry (who also appear on page 5 of this thread):

artist: Ministry
song: Thieves
genre: Industrial

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dG_-rq1ON9Y

who also had a side project colorfully named:

artist: 1000 Homo DJs
song: Supernaut
genre: Industrial/Rock

Seriously??

Before everyone was riding 2pac and 50-Cent's jock, wanting to be a thug, everyone wanted to be a gangsta.

N.W.A. was one of the key groups that blew up the Gangsta Rap scene:
