Fuck!  I just went on psytuts.com and it seems they shut down.  Hadn't been there in a little bit but their site says this:

Dear PsyTuts Members,

Over a month ago we had a massive database crash where we lost all our articles. Due to the unforeseen circumstances PsyTuts is shutting down.

Another factor is we have been struggling to find authors / contributors for the website. The whole idea behind PsyTuts was that community members would submit articles / tutorials that we would edit and publish. To date I have received 2 tutorials from the community, so the sole responsibility fell on mine and Finch's shoulders.

I would like to thank everyone for being part of an amazing 6 months.

Take care,

Peter Lehto
(PsyTuts Founder and Editor)

In case anybody wasn't aware of psytuts, it was a site that was going to be a database for psy related tutorials.  I was actually checking the site out because I was thinking of getting involved.  Too bad to see it go down.  I know there had been some talk among a few of the members of this thread about creating some kind of a psychedelic haven.  There are a few places on the web that have psy communities and they are mostly small but I've always felt that some of the information I've been seeking hasn't been accessible through those channels.  Lately I've been getting much more heavily involved in music production and I'd like to see a place that is created for learning these tricks and techniques.  Psytuts was going to be this place.  If anybody has interest in learning or sharing these types of ideas, maybe we could slowly get something going or at least have some kind of basic compilation of data and ideas.  At the moment I'm in school but I'm learning so much that when I get out in a year I'd love to get involved with a psy-related community that I can learn and share with.  If there is any interest here maybe later down the line something could emerge from it, we just have to be vocal about what we're looking to get out of it or if people are even interested in the first place.  Anyway, just throwing that out there.  If there's no interest that's cool but if there is maybe we can get more like-minded people involved.  I mean, that's how any community starts and who knows what it could turn into, especially if it got to the point where it could leave JSP entirely and create it's own identity.

Just a thought.  Sad to see psytuts go.

I never knew about that place :(

There aren't really many online psy communities. I've been thinking about this lately as well. There's certainly enough of us to form one, I think it's just a lack of funds, really. The biggest ones currently are probably shroomery, erowid, and dmt-nexus. The thing is, most of these seem to be more centered around trip reports than community. Don't get me wrong, trip reports are incredibly important, but what I would like to see is psychonauts coming together to discuss ideas, music, meet each other, etc etc. Because frankly, we're a very, very small percent of people, and I think if any subculture needs an online community, it's us. Psychedelic experiences aren't anything you can discuss with the majority of people around you. If you attempt to speak to most people, they'll think you're some kind of crazy druggie who's lost his grip on reality, which is profoundly sad. Psychedelics have been demonized to such an extent, I think they have a reputation on par with drugs like meth and heroin. If we could come together, I feel we could create a much more positive change. As it stands, the only information the rest of the world receives on psychedelics is from the government, which is quite awful really, since they lie through their teeth about psychedelics to keep people afraid of them. I mean, sure there's valid information the general public sees, like certain documentaries, and books, but they aren't exactly something you'll see a commercial for, ya know? It's all kept very hush hush. Every time I take psychedelics I find myself wondering how it's even possible what they do is this big secret, you'd think something like this would be studied, explored, celebrated, but it's the opposite. We definitely need to find a way to center our community and psychedelic society, if we can't, there is no hope. We no longer have any psychedelics heroes, we have no voices. We need to let people know what they do, and reach out to those individuals who do know, and feel alone because of it.

Regarding music production, I've gotten very into it too, lately. I think I've finally found the sound I'm after. I can hear it in my head clearly, and I know exactly what I want to do now. I'm just missing a few pieces of gear, and money. I'm about to start college again, but I'm only taking 3 classes so I'll hopefully have the time to spend on my music. I'm also trying to get a job over here so I can afford my projects, gear is expensive!
