hardcore isnt really the place to be looking for lyrics like that.

ya I know which is why I have a hard time identifying with hardcore

I enjoy metal because it has far superior musicianship so the lyrics can lack because I listen to it mainly for the instruments

punk is almost an exact polar opposite I don't like choking victim because they rip at guitar I listen because of their lyrical content and social commentary

hardcore has neither good musicianship nor good lyrical content which makes me get extremely bored with it

the only positive aspect of hardcore is the energy which is fun live but other than that hardcore is basically punk minus lyrics + detuned guitars and breakdowns

I enjoy metal for that reason too, however there are a decent number of hardcore bands that do have musical talent. Just because a song is easy to write doesn't mean it lacks talent. There are a lot of bands that are from around my area in the 90s that have a unique sound compared to todays hardcore. Its uniqueness is what I consider great about it.

But a large reason to enjoy hardcore is because a GOOD show is fun to participate in if you like the band enough. If you dont like the band, well not much that can be done for you there. But I do have more fun at hardcore shows than I do at metal/death metal shows etc..

I did give your list a listen and found a few things I liked

Have Heart is fucking terrible though bro it's about as complicated and meaningful as the Jonas Brothers :(

most of hardcore is very repetitive which is a major factor in me not liking it there are a few unique bands out there but it takes about a year before everyone just rips them off and I'm sick of it

and I prefer a metal show to a hardcore show the crowd is generally much better from my experience

"o' your friends say boston's beautiful,
but they didn't live here, they didn't die here
in the Hyde Park years.
o' your friends say boston's beautiful,
but they didn't live hard, they didn't die hard
when sons dragged out their fathers from bars.
o' your friends say boston's beautiful,
but they didn't dream here, they didn't scream here
when no one hears.
o' your friends say boston's beautiful,
but they didn't hide here, they didn't cry here
when little boys weren't allowed to shed their tears

idk man it's just really basic and wanna be emo

they strike me as a band that tries really hard to be lyrically deep but just can't pull it off

their lyrics remind me of most indie bands

how many songs have you looked at?

"About Face"
Fucked it up again. but i'm not looking the other way.
i see my errors and i know i'm wrong, but it's gonna
take way more than that
to change my ways and start thinking straight,
be the person i aspire to be.
own up to myself. turn my life around.
make amends to my friends, i owe to myself and them.
pledge of allegiance to myself. so i must fucking say: i will change
no more selfish ways, no more for # 1; its done.
arrogance is of the past: so i must fucking say: i will change
so you gonna try, or is it gonna be the same fucking song?
i must find, i'll strive for
i must find, i'll strive for

HUMILITY.

so don't lose, don't lose...your way.
don't lose your way.
i said its time we really take a look at ourselves
and start caring about someone else.
