too bad it wasn't the more known "mainstream" hardcore that got me hooked in it. My local upstate bands are what got me hooked. My area has a long history with a unique sound for every band for the most part.

It wasn't until I went to local shows and listened to local bands for years that I started getting into more known stuff like Terror and Madball.

I am proud to be where I'm from and grateful to have gotten to known the bands that I do, so don't be as ignorant to assume you know what "real" hardcore is based on some bands posted in this thread.

idiot I live 30 minuets out of Hollywood there are shows literally every night of the week from every genre (except for maybe bluegrass/country) I have seen all of the "real hardcore" bands and they are a joke

I mean MAYBE if one of them could at least muster up a decent message or decent lyrics but 99% of them can't even do that they just try to copy metal and be "heavy"

yes i just recently saw them on the saves the day, hellogoodbye and fireworks tour. if it is that line up you're lucky because NFG played their whole self titled that came out 10 years ago. they played like... 3 songs that were new. it was a blast, took me back.

we just have different taste in music brah, its not a good or bad thing. i dont make fun of metal even though i think its cheesy as fuck.

What's the point of people telling us our genre sucks? Even if they gave a million reasons why, it's not like we're going to just say, "You know what? You're right. I'm never listening to hardcore again." lol

yes we have different choices in music and I usually respect peoples shit but 99% of hardcore kids are just too much of duechebags to let it go

you are assuming that the point of me pointing out the flaws in your genre is to get you to stop listening to it which is dead wrong

if you stopped listening I would have one less group to laugh at and kill in pits at shows

well i can see if you've seen those bands but held a grudge against hardcore music you obviously wouldnt enjoy it. i personally am a musician and i do respect a lot of metal musicians because they are good at what they do, but that doesnt appeal to me. i can learn most metal solos/riffs/whatever by ear, so in a way are they really THAT badass?

i use to make fun of hardcore music when i was younger. 6 years ago i use to think hardcore was the biggest joke next to european punk crap. but that was due to the fact i never been to a show and had an open mind. you can ask all my friends on the way to that terror show i was bashing them all, but it was probably the most influential music night of my life. ever since then ive been addicted to this similar sounding, not a lot of talent, and loud in your face music. the lyrics are basic, but it gets the point across.

i dont care who "killed" anything. i dont care if im the only person in the world or part of 2 billion people that like hardcore music. i will listen to it regardless because it is what i enjoy.
