Either way, that Ayahuasca scene is amazing, I love it. I've watched it probably like 20 times, and I always try to focus on different areas of the screen so I pick up little details I didn't see the last time around. Some of the scenes in it are so intensely alien, it's very interesting. The guy who did the animations apparently based it off his own experiences, of which he has over 100 with Ayahuasca alone.

It's is psychedelic/ groove metal... They are heavily inspired and incorporate newer psychedelic sound you may not be as familiar with..

That doesn't make sense, things are either psychedelic or they aren't, there is no "new". If music recreates or describes a psychedelic experience, then it is indeed psychedelic music. In either case, that album is from 2006, and a great deal of music ( Probably the majority ) in this thread is from past 2006, so I wouldn't call it new either. Anyways, this topic is primarily for Psytrance/Psybient/Psychedelic Rock. I do find many metal bands psychedelic, lyrically and musically, such as Dissection and Emperor, but Mastodon isn't one I find psychedelic at all. Since the opinion of whether it is or isn't is subjective, I guess it's fair for you to post if you've had a trip that resembled that music or reminds you of, or you listened to whilst tripping, etc etc. I don't mean to sound rude or anything, just saying the majority of people who post here wouldn't find it psychedelic, and the music may be better appreciated in another thread, that's all.

I find they emulate a peculiar trippy metal sound that I have fallen in love with.. Mastodon follows up with some of the most mesmerizing sounds/ videos.
