Since we're talking about vibrasphere :

This is on their Selected Downbeats compilation(s), vol1 or 2 I'm too lazy to check. I have both if you want them though. This song is absolutely stunning.

One of my favorites for sure. <3

So I went up to New York for this show! Thanks for everybody who told me to do it, I'm really glad I did. I got in a half hour into the Vibrasphere set but it was alright because it was a 2 hour set so I got to see 1:30ish which was enough to make me plenty happy. Most of the stuff was off Lungs of Life from what I could tell but there was definitely some old trance tracks too. They played Ensueno Morning Mix which made me super happy too! One of my favorite moments was towards the end, in fact I think it was the last song, when they played Seven Days to Sunlight and the sample saying "Do you believe the world is coming to end?" came and everybody went nuts when it hit in. All in all it was a wonderful experience and I didn't even stay for the whole show because I was visiting a friend there as well. I have some shitty pictures on my phone that I might upload but I was especially stunned by the room because it was the first show I've been to where the whole club was decked out in psychedelic tapestries. Very awesome atmosphere. I guess they don't really go that all out in Baltimore usually, sometimes maybe but not often for sure. Anyway, I'm very glad I got to see them and thanks again to everybody who urged me to do it, couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Edit: On the Vibrasphere note, just saw a post by Filteria on isratrance showing Vibrasphere some love. Always nice to see your favorite artists share some love.

Awesome man, glad you enjoyed yourself! Wish I could've gone :(

Yeah actually I was doing some research on Filteria's studio process and came across some of his posts on Isratrance. I really admire the way how he does everything oldschool, all hardware! Mixing desk, all hardware synths, hardware equalizers, etc etc. Sounds better for it, I think. He talks about how since software got big, the electronic music scene has become stale, because not as many people are doing stuff from scratch like you have to with hardware. Vibrasphere uses a mix of Software/Hardware though, and I think they sound very good. I think utilizing both is where unique sound lies. The softies allow boundless manipulation for those that are up to the challenge, where as hardware provides the raw creativity that is channeled when you spend 4 hours tweaking knobs with headphones on.

Speaking of, don't you make psy Dylan? A lot of the time I wish I had someone near me to collaborate with, but here where I live nobody is interested in Psy -_- Just dubstep, and other various forms of crap.

I didn't know Filteria used purely hardware, very cool. Definitely interesting to note. From the research I've done it seems that technically the differences between software synths and hardware synths should be very similar because technically they both run on some type of software, however, there does seem to be a general consensus among musicians that hardware keeps a warmer, fuller sound. Not to mention that free patches and the expanse of the internet glorified soft synths. From my experience, I can't deny that. The problem here lies in cost, at least for me.

I do make something like psy, it's music anyway. Genres are quite debatable though, especially when judging your own creations. I would really like to get into using hardware and a full blown studio, I just need to get some money together but it's certainly a priority. I own a MicroKorg which at the time was just what I could afford but it's actually a very powerful little synth for it's small price tag. I need to learn to use it better honestly and also get some sort of tempo-syncer because it's a bitch to redo the tempo on it... unless I've been missing something for a long time.

Around here, almost nobody knows the genre and if you say "trance" people starting thinking of crappy techno with no depth to production and of course you have dubstep rampant which I have very mixed feelings about, mostly bored with it. I have a lot of trouble connecting musically to people, at least concerning the music I am truly passionate about but it's helped me learn to spend time alone making music that satisfies me instead of somebody else. If you're ever looking to do some kind of collaboration, please don't hesitate to PM me, I'd be totally up for the challenge. I've never really collaborated too extensively before but it's always been something I felt would be greatly beneficial. Having another pair of ears when making those critical decisions could be invaluable at times I'm sure. But regardless, if you have some tunes you ever want to get a second opinion on or just share with others, send them my way. I would love to hear what you make and see how you do your thing. Anybody reading this is welcome to do the same, I'd love to hear everybody's tunes.

Yep, Filteria's studio is NUTS. http://www.filteria.com/ Click the studio tab and behold his collection. Over 20 grand in synths easy. Wish I could afford a godly collection like that. Analog synths do not run on software though, only digital hardware synths do that. And then there's hybrids, like mine, which is a digital synth engine with analog filters. I wanna get one more hardware synth, some monitor speakers, and a good sound card. A mixing desk would be really nice too. I have a bunch of soft synths, but none that I like really. Abysnth 5 is kinda cool. I find Alchemy and Omnisphere very, very interesting though. They have a unique sound quality to them among softies. Alchemy is probably the most complex synthesizer on the market at the moment. Omnisphere is probably the best sounding in terms of being rich, fat, and full. I also need to get Cubase @_@ Kind of sucks that electronic music is by far the most expensive to make. Hell, you can buy a decent guitar for 700 and an amp for the same and be done with your investments, where as all the equipment needed for electronic music usually runs you 3-5k in hardware in the end.

Yeah, same here in regards to mentioning trance. Even if someone here did want to collaborate, I probably wouldn't unless I knew them very well, simply because I want to do something musically that is different from everything else. What's the point of even making music if there's already something out there that sounds like it, ya know? If I found someone who shared my idea of unique music, I totally would though. Be nice to have the added creativity of another mind. As much as I see music as something personal, I can't help but think with how many insane 1-man artists there are, duo's and trio's would be even better. The few that I know of are really great. Infected Mushroom, Vibrasphere, Astral Projection, GMS, Vibetribe, etc etc. I think more collaborations need to be done. With people that actually love music, and want to create something new, I think the best psy is yet ahead of us. Especially with how advanced synthesis has gotten, the future looks very, very trippy for music.

When you listen to Filteria, you can definitely hear the influence he takes from this artist. Great goa, interesting listen for sure.

I think these are his only two tracks, I wish he did more. Honestly, these are better than a lot of Derango's stuff. Seems more organized. I feel Derango wastes a lot of potential by just spamming too many crazy noises at once. Nothing wrong with having lots of layers, but the listener has to be able to somewhat follow the riffs I think. Not to say Derango doesn't have some really good stuff, just a bit too chaotic at times.
