Dont make this an idiotic flaming thread.

When I first started listening to metal type stuff (deathcore/death metal/metalcore) I thought screaming was something that only few people could do properly.
My view on it now is that its just like singing, basically anyone can do it with a little practice but also like singing just because you say you can do it doesnt make people wanna listen to you.
I basically view screaming as just another instrument.  I understand a lot of people completely hate the genre, but thats your opinion. Some bands like for example asking alexandria, danny worsnop has a very small range, and sounds completely awful life.  Other screamers such as the singer of August Burns Red sounds great.  I listen to lots of stuff, but i figured id just use some popular bands as an example.

Post up what you think about it, is it simple? is it hard? Is it for people who cant sing?

I personally like the singers who can do wonderful cleans and have a huge screaming range.

Opinions?

You really thing danny worsnop has small range? Some songs he sounds really damn good, I've only seen him live once he was okay but the reason why I think people tend to think he's shit live is because he's shitfaced most of the time. That's no excuse though but I think he's a pretty good screamer.

Not trying to be a dick, but honestly dude you have no idea what you're talking about lmao. I saw him right after he got out of rehab and was clean for quite awhile. He was perfectly sober. He has a small range. His deeps arent deep at all live and his highs are screechy, not to mention his cleans couldnt be much worse. Stand up and scream was a good album but now they suck

Kind of.. I sing (yes sing..) death metal and it's a technique... like singing opera. All your power comes from your core and is exhaled out. Guttural vocals usually aren't interpreted as screaming but I'll assume that's what you're asking about. It's the same technique, the more you do it, the broader your range gets. YELLING however comes from thrash and punk. True death metal / goregrind uses only gutteral vocal style although originally death metal vocals were a little more raw and higher pitched. Sound production also adds a key factor nowadays..
