The artists only get like 5 cents from every cd sold anyway... your wasting your money by buying cd's.

Yeah but if bands aren't selling albums, labels aren't gonna keep the band hah.

That is only true on maybe the 2 first year of your contract with a label. (major)
After that, depend on the type of contract you sign, they can still make money without the band itself selling cd's, because they can just re-press some cd with their master they have banked.
If the label doesn't have the master of the cd(s), then you are half right (because touring exposure is still a big thing for major labels).

Actually, with iTunes it's much better for the artist. But cd wise, yeah you are right.
Bands are making money with merch they sell at their live show.

good thing I bought the album off iTunes and I buy a shirt at almost every show i go to. I go to too many shows to really buy merch at every single one... and i haven't seen Mastodon.... yet

......because i like more than one genre? lol

i'm a big fan of pop-punk and their album is something i like. there are a lot of pop-punk bands that i enjoy significantly more than blink once i actually ventured into the genre and found out what it's all about... blink like to display a very childish immaturity which a lot of people find displeasing, something i can understand, but they've been one of my favorite bands since i was about 8. their music has actually helped me through some seriously bad times, along with other pop-punk bands, and i'll never really forget that. plus, i've met them all and they're very genuine and nice people, with the possible exception of tom, who is kind of a douche. but travis and mark are sweethearts. also, i've seen them live twice now and the energy at the shows is indescribable and it's a fantastic experience. and they are pretty decent live.

so i like them. bug off.

in more relevant news, i'm getting tickets to mastodon/dillinger escape plan (will be my 2nd time seeing these bad boys)/the red fang for nov 1.
