US news superpower CNN have come under fire for insinuating that Connecticut metal/hardcore crossover heavyweights Hatebreed are a white power band in a report on the recent Sikh temple shootings.

In a CNN.com story posted yesterday (August 8 ) about the shootings in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, which left seven dead at the hands of 41-year-old Wade Page, Page was described as  “a white supremacist skinhead” who played in a number of white power bands including End Apathy and Definite Hate, bands that, in CNN’s words, “defiantly express feelings of hate or violence.”

However, the site then went on to list a number of bands that fall under the white power banner, including Aggravated Assault, Attack, Definite Hate, Final Solution, Fueled by Hate, Jew Slaughter, White Terror and, bizarrely, Hatebreed.

Unsurprisingly, Jamey Jasta and the guys, who play Bloodstock this weekend, were not impressed, and released the following statement:

“Our music brings people of all races together all over the world. CNN need to get their facts straight,” the band tweeted. “Writers like Lonnie Nasatir are the reason why the American media is looked at as a complete joke.CNN loses all respect … now they slander us. We demand a retraction & an apology. #hacks. The band encouraged followers to “stay relentless … until they remove our name from their article & print a retraction/apology.”

CNN have since removed Hatebreed from the list of bands, but seriously, anyone else thinking that is pretty piss-poor? A bit of research wouldn’t go amiss next time, people.

I started listening to hatebreed because i heard they where a WP band... its pretty much a known fact in the skinhead community that they're a WP band.
For them to deny and act like this is a new thing to them is bullshit.

Hatebreed are not white power They have a stereotypical white skinhead frontman, but that means he's racist? No.
Song content is racist? No.

There is no basis to call them a white power band. If anything Manowar are a white power band.

No other racist event has ever occured with Hatebreed.

So, yes you dodge, no they aren't white supremicists, and Full Blown Chaos are a FAAAAR superior band.
