Basically what it says on the tin, if you keep up with new music let us know what you consider to be the top 5 album releases from the year so far. Hopefully there will be some discussion generated and it won't become an "everybody posts and nobody reads" kind of thread.

I'll start.

1. Alt-J - An Awesome Wave
2. Billy Woods - History Will Absolve Me
3. The Men - Open Your Heart
4. Whirr - Pipe Dreams
5. Disappears - Pre Language

31 views and no replies; nerds are scared I suppose. I've never been one to keep up with this sort of shit so here she goes (in no particular order)~

II. Cyrus - A1 - Hotpan / A2 - Ears Lowered
III. Dose One - G Is For Deep
IV. Washed Out - Within and Without
V. Tallest Man on Earth - There's No Leaving Now

That's not really relevant, and it does say "from the year so far".

Beach House - Bloom (Ethereal Dream Pop)
Sigur Ros - Valtari (Post Rock)
Punch Brothers - Who's Feeling Young Now? (Jazzgrass)
Various Artists - Eight Trails, One Path (Instrumental Guitar)
The Roots - Undun ...Came out in December, but still considering it a 2012 album in my book
Oddisee - People Hear What They See (Hip Hop)

Don't know what 90% of what other posters are posting so I am assuming it is all specific genres that I don't listen to much of

I didn't get too into Bloom too much, but it's winter for me and I think of dream pop as summer/spring listening lol. They definitely improved on their sound though.

And yeah Billy Woods destroyed El-P's Cancer For Cure in the running for my hip hop aoty. I haven't listened to Nas' new album yet and I've heard that's supposed to be pretty good.
