Just wanted to share a few of my favorite quotes about music.
I would write them myself, but I think its been said better by other people in history!

"Music is a higher revelation
than all wisdom and philosphy.
Music is the electrical soil
in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents."

~ Ludwig van Beethoven ~

"Music does bring people together.
It allows us to experience the same emotions.
People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit.
No matter what language we speak, what color we are,
the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith,
music proves: We are the same."

~ John Denver ~

"Music gives a soul to the universe,
wings to the mind,
flight to the imagination,
and life to everything."

~ Plato ~

"A person does not hear sound only through the ears;
he hears sound through every pore of his body.
It permeates the entire being,
and according to its particular influence either slows
or quickens the rhythm of the blood circulation;
it either wakens or soothes the nervous system.
It arouses a person to greater passions
or it calms him by bringing him peace.
According to the sound and its influence
a certain effect is produced.
Sound becomes visible in the form of radiance.
This shows that the same energy which goes into the form of sound
before being visible is absorbed by the physical body.
In that way the physical body recuperates
and becomes charged with new magnetism."

~ from 'Mysticism of Sound' by Hazrat Inayat Khan ~

Feel free to post some of your own writings about music or favorite quotes of someone else.

Great Thread!

I'm sure all of the regulars on this forum have a true deep passion for music. Does not matter what kind of music or how it makes you feel.
What matters is that the music affects us in such a strong manner that we reach out to others to spread our passion to everyone.

Music indeed brings people together like nothing else. It is something we can all relate to, something we can all connect with.
Music is capable of inspiring people to do great things, undertake momentous tasks, and provide comfort to all those suffering.
I thank god everyday that i able to appreciate music as I do. I fear the world would be a bleak place for me if I did not...

~ Armin van Buuren ~

"Music is the worlds Universal Religion."

~ Albert Einstein ~

“It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception. (Theory of Relativity) ”

~ Friedrich Nietzsche ~

"Without music, life would be a mistake."

Music is the life blood flowing through all of our veins.
It lives inside us, unlike anything else created by the human race.
It invokes happyness, sadness, anger, frustrations,
and invites you to change your mood upon request.
On the gloomyest day you can throw on some song
that you used to know, that by a maricle brings you
back to the day that song ment the most to you.
And that song brings back the feeling you felt that
very day as if you knew to play it then so you
can remember now. It brings back memories that
you forgot you knew. The nostalgia of music is
untampered, unmanaged, and all you need to do
is just press play!

I was born with music inside me. Music was one of my parts.
Like my ribs, my kidneys, my liver, my heart. Like my blood.
It was a force already within me when I arrived on the scene.
It was a necessity for me-like food or water.
~Ray Charles

"Music is the Voice that tells us that the
human race is greater than it knows"
~Napoleon Bonaparte

"Music is the key to the female heart."

So I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Ill start chemotherapy in a few weeks. Sometimes I feel like life brings you down so far that you can never get back up. But i take solace in the fact that i still have my love for music to help me through. And with that knowledge I know ill make it through this...

Little Noah came into the house with a new harmonica. “Grandpa, do you mind if I play this in here?”

“Of course not, Noah. I love music. In fact, when your grandma and I were young, music saved my life.”
“What happened?” “Well, it was during the famous Johnstown flood. The dam broke and when the water
hit out house it knocked it right off the foundation. Grandma got on the dining room table and floated out safely.”
“How about you?”
“Me? I accompanied her on the piano!”
