How do you guys define "pretentious" and what makes someone "pretentious"?

If the 'artist' knows what he does is stupid / retarded but wants to masks it as something else. Then he is pretending; Pretentious.
But that could be dada too so I can't really say.

I don't want to label anything as pretentious because I can't know. It's so subjective.

Fanboys of any of the following genres : Black metal/Noise Rock/Indie/Math Rock/Glitch/

BM and Indie fans are the worst by miles, but the others are up there too I suppose.

Why is it stricted only to those genres or are obvious trolling?

Thanks for reminding, I need to check out more glitch music, Domotic is really good. Haven't heard much else.
