49.37 FG for advice that helps me beyond basics.

I know NOTHING about surround sound or sound systems to begin with.

With the boxing week sales going on I was wondering if someone could assist me in what I should look for in an average system.

I just bought a 55 inch LCD HDTV.

I live in Canada so I can shop here, I also live 15 minutes from the USA and I am heading there tomorrow to shop. (Port Huron)

So if anyone has a direct link to a store with a good deal and why I should buy it please post.

I want to get the most for my money it isn't extremely relevant about the cost. A couple hundred would be fine.

Ok. I got what u need :)

First of all: Proper bass
Second of all: U should look for something that can blast the hell out of you, while the sound quality remains good (!!!).
Third of all: Surround of course!

I did many research for to find the, in my eyes, best price quality-price rate surround system.

History
I have, for 2 years now, the Logitech Z-5500 Surround System, never let me down & perfect sound.
I had trouble with police, 6 times, due to the loudness and bass. The movie From Dusk Till Dawn together with This subwoofer, has broken the mirror of our neighbours.
It has 11 boosts, to make it even louder, which leads to not hearing eachother while ur standing next to eachother (like in disco).

Where to order
I live in Holland, and I ordered it here:
http://www.redcoon.nl/index.php/cmd/shop/a/ProductDetail/pid/B124173/cid/8234/refId/ciao_nl/et_cid/ciao/et_lid/ciao/

But maybe this is something for u in Canada

a basic 200 dollars will be loud all around you, but the more you pay it will obviously be more powerful and the spot the sound comes from will be more precise.

higher watt = louder, and you will pay more for blue ray type ones

DONT get soundbar

I have an awesome Sony 5.1 Dolby Surround, and it's excellent. Comes with 2 floor standing speakers (about 4ft tall) 3 small speakers to dot around, and a hench subwoofer.

Goes upto volume 50, at volume 20 it's nearly dangerously loud

Perfect for movies and games and music. Paid £60.00 for it :)
