Alright

I somehow got a DVD or something and not the episodes..

My question is, is AIR a series or a movie?

And if it's a series, should I watch the movie before the episodes?

I heard Air was a pretty good series from someone that play's d2. Im probably gonna check it out soon if you want me to let you know if its any good or not.

It is indeed a movie, 1 hour and 31 minutes.

Its a series and movie. Anime series is called "Air TV".
