I appreciate it for what it is, and it was groundbreaking for its time.
I find the characters are more cliche, one-dimensional, and almost caricatures of a typical drama to the point of it being a "space opera" of sorts.
It was one of the first sci-fi things to do this, and it really legitimized sci-fi for years to come, and I appreciate that.
Regardless, Star Trek's original series and early lost in space are miles ahead in terms of writing, dialogue, more "intelligent" decision-making, etc.
I saw Episode I in a theater when I was like 9 years old and that was okay, but it seemed like a stupid action movie even then. Other than "cool for the time" CGI effects (podraces, aliens, etc.) I find the quality of the EP 1-2-3 trilogy to be quite poor.
Episode IV is legendary, but that's really the only one I really care about.
