As for 50 Cent...

I agree that he's not exactly a "gangster" but he was a pretty hardcore drug dealer. He made most of his money selling drugs.
And for those who do/sell drugs, you know you meet some pretty odd people, and the gangster lifestyle just sorta falls into your lap.
