most shops charge by the hour. six to ten square inches of nice color should take a professional two hours tops to complete.

150-350 don't pay a dime more

For a good artist I mean mediocre at its best is around 75 $ a hour. Top will be around 100-200 Bucks a a hour. You will have to pay that for good work tho. Rest is just crap. I mean there is some good artist out there who can do work for cheap, but finding that is pretty tough. Shop around ask questions..take the art to shops and see. Check there work, look in there portfolios and see is there lines decent do they have the clients to back up there work? Some good artist will not draw anything unless you lay down a deposit...I agree tho..

Depending on the area, experience and demand for the tattoo artist, it can vary greatly.

The average in my area is 100 per hour. Most places I know have a house minimum. i.e. $35

It all depends on the amount of small detail, the size of it, whether you want it colored or just black, every tattoo is different in some fashion so you can't give a general pricing.

This thread was TL;DR but overall, go to different shops, look at their portfolios and get an estimate on the piece.

You get what you pay for.

So get the best piece at the most reasonable price because it is on you forever.
