Thing with Plasma is that it sucks in livingrooms. A major difference between plasma and LCD is that plasma uses glass and LCD uses plastic. So in the livingroom there's obviously lots of light, therefore plasma is a no-go because the light would reflect on the glass so much you would have to block the sun out in order to actually enjoy watching TV.
Difference between LCD and LED is the background lightning. LED gives a more smooth look, but you'd rather have sharp edges and stuff with LCD when watching movies etc.
I know you've already ordered, but for possible need in the future this information is important.
For 9 feet the TV shouldn't be any bigger than 40" imo. It can damage your eyes, but that's up to the individual.
