Hi guys,

I am in the market for a new TV, and I have no clue what to choose. Im basically looking for anything at or above 50", that would be used primarily for gaming and watching sports. My budget is around $700, and I don't really care if it has the whole "smart TV" stuff, as my XB1 has the same features.

If you arent familiar with specific models, are there any brands I should be attracted to or stay away from?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I would strongly recommend Samsung. I just bought one, only 32 inch for my office room, and it is amazing. There is the option for the smart TV and regular, I picked regular because I wouldn't use the other features probably. You may want to check them out in person too at your nearest electronic store: Best Buy, Sears, Walmart, etc. Then from there find best price online or in store.

I mostly use it for gaming on my ps4

Get this one, make sure you pay attention to model numbers.

Also, most tvs have smart capabilities now, avoiding it is less likely.

Avoid Samsung. So many stupid problems with them. Plus, this model, while on sale, is almost $250 above OP's budget.

This LG has a decent panel and picture for the price range, is on sale right now, and is back-lit (which is better than edge-lit panels).

He could get the 48" for 650.

It's comical that you are bashing the leading brand of tv manufacturing.....

I haven't had any problems with any Samsung product I've owned in the last 10+years.

Just because it's leading doesn't mean a thing. I take calls every day dealing with one stupid Samsung problem after another (regarding their home theater gear, which includes TVs). If you knew what I knew about them, you'd never buy a Samsung TV again.

Sounds more like dumb customers.

Based on quick internet results, Samsung is among the leading brands in reliability.

Even going by overall consumer reviews from different sources, Samsung is still extremely highly rated.

I have had good experiences, you have not, but the majority of rated consumers support Samsung.
