The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice

Its not about magic but its not only about vampire either, theres some spirits life forms, and a bunch of other super natural involved in those books... at some point they even introduce witches, wich is also another series of books from Anne Rice, The Lives of the Mayfair Witches.

I have read the 1st 5 books: Interview with the Vampire (1976)
The Vampire Lestat (1985)
The Queen of the Damned (1988)
The Tale of the Body Thief (1992)
Memnoch the Devil (1995)

They are all excellent in my opinion... each of them brings something new and different from the others...

I also read the 2 books from New Tales of the Vampires
Pandora (1998)
Vittorio the Vampire (1999)

I also liked them but they are very different from the others as its not in the same storyline, as they are more like short stories in the world of the vampire chronicles...

If you want something long to read. I have the first 2 books and didn't get very far in the first, but The Wheel of Time books should give you something to read for a while lol. :P I think there are 14 books in the series (the author has passed before he finished it and someone else is finishing the series). There is also a prequel that is separate.
