I'd say Blu-ray:

Xbox 360 games are on DVDs and not HD-DVDs. Maybe they will in the future, but then you'll have to pay $200 for the 360 external drive.
PS3 games are on Blu-Rays.

HD-DVDs can hold 15GB and 30GB if dual-layer.
Blu-rays can hold 25GB and 50GB if dual-layer. 67% more.

HD-DVD sounds too long, as the HD seems tacked on. Although people might be more familiar with the "DVD" in the name.
Blu-ray sounds cooler and more "next-gen", don't ya think?
However, there are players currently out that can play both HD-DVDs and Blu-rays; a technology which may diffuse the media war. Although one will still probably beat the other in sales.
The Blu-Ray player is already included in the PS3 price though and is probably just as expensive as the HD-DVD player.
As for the storage capacity...games probably won't even take up that much memory for a LONG time, if ever.
I agree with the name though, Blu-Ray sounds much better than HD-DVD...what a rubbish name.
But overall, I think Blu-Ray is better: higher storage capacity and data transfer rate.
