Can Tera be played via system link or ad hoc?

if you are talking system link in terms of bridging network connections and using internet signal from 1 device on another; basically any online game can do that given proper hardware/driver configurations.
If you are looking for a game that is to be played offline, between local computers only, MMOs are not going to fit your niche...

I mean like minecraft I can play with my buddy locally offline.

Same with borderlands 2

And age of empires.

In short, MMOs are not capable of setting up LAN play.

Any MMOs that are made properly wont have a LAN ability because all the data handling will be controlled by the company server (if it is done locally people can hack it easily)

All the games you listed handle the data on the computer and not on a dedicated server (game progress, etc.), and none of them are remotely close to an MMO.
Hopefully you find a LAN-able game that fits the style your looking for :)
Me n my friends always enjoyed running classic starcraft tower defense maps whenever the internet was down and we were stuck with LAN only.
