ok, so it emulates a cash shop korean mmo. Thats not better...

It isn't a cash shop MMO though... wish people would actually do some research before they spout stupid comments. Pretty sure you are able to buy such items from vendors in game, not the company.

The point is, it is a major issue when it comes to PvP.
The system doesn't make perfect sense at all, since it makes for non-fluid gameplay, which you would think would be the main thing you'd look for in an action MMO.
Action games are designed to be fast paced. Getting rooting in place for a second~ does not make for fast paced, skillful gameplay.

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls root you into place during actions in combat, and those two games have one of the most competitive PvP communities I have seen in an action game.

Is it an issue in either game? Nope. Because those games teach you to play smart, not mash buttons to win like most action rpgs. You mistime an attack, and you die. It's your fault, not the game's.

because thats how cash shop mmos function. You can enchant gear and if it fails it goes down a rank, level, whatever. Then theres always some convenient thing you can buy which will prevent this.

How does it even emulate a cash shop? Fact is, you aren't paying money to win. You buy these from the vendor with in game gold. Everyone is capable of doing this, not just "rich" people.

Cash shop = paying $$ to win/gain huge advantage that not everybody is able to do

Those games are also not played by hundreds of thousands of people where latency also becomes a factor, so your point is 100% invalid.

Getting rooted in place still makes for less fluid gameplay, I don't see how you're trying to argue this. If it's an instant cast spell, and you get rooted in place because of animation delay or whatever, then it's not an instant cast spell.

Fluid =/= competitive. Those are two different terms. I never said the gameplay would be fluid. I said it would be competitive and quality combat.

Fluidity has nothing to do with the quality of PvP. I perfectly and wholeheartedly agree with Tera's root system.

Again, if you get f'ked by being rooted, it's your own fault, and there are countless ways to play efficiently despite it.

Personally I feel TERA is WAY too clunky, the combat system could have been good, but due to being locked in animations 90% of the time, it's just shit.

I agree with this, the locked animations make me tear my hair out!
would also be nice if you could cancel actions to dodge instantly not a sec after =]

imo anyways

What do you mean that fluidity has nothing to do with the quality of PvP?

You've never played competitively in MMO PvP before, have you?

Lotta trolls in this thread, either that or just stupid. Misinformed, played too much WoW so simplicity draws them away, etc etc.

Tsk tsk, thankfully this game finally got me back into MMOs.
