Depends on the area, but for the most part the public school system is a joke.

Perhaps compared to other parts of the country, they're not. But you can't say the system is good by turning a blind eye to the majority.

A great example is comparing (one aspect) of the Switzerland schooling system to our own. If you live in central Switzerland, you are taught to become fluent in four languages by the time you're 18. In America, how many people do you know that are native American English speakers that are fluent in two languages?

Right I agree, mainly because America has the, "you're in our country learn our language" mentality.
Anyway this isn't really the thread for this haha, it is Grief's Tera thread :P.

I agee our school system is horrible. I wasnt trying to imply it wasnt.

Sweeden is kind of a tough example though. My roommate used to primarily date foreign girls, including a couple sweedes that lived with us, their country is split into 3 seperate areas each with its own official language. So if you dont know a certain language you are going to have trouble interacting within their own country.

we learn 2 languages (Dutch and English) from the age of 10 and then 2 more(german and French) at the age of 12-13ish and even more(Greek Latin) if you have a higher education.

But we mostly forget about the 2 that come at age 12-13ish because it's not interesting enough..
