Good shit:
Not copy/paste gameplay from wow, or others that copied like ToR and Rift. More like an action game like God of War mixed with an MMO.
Having played the first 10 levels, the combat is really fluid and dynamic, once you start chaining together attacks and dodges/blocks (class depending) the gameplay gets really fun. Each mob has a lot of health and does a good deal of damage too, so you have to be on your toes.
This is really what I enjoy about the game though, I played WoW for so long that I am really tired of that type of gameplay, so was looking for something new to try out in an mmo.

It is actually designed with Western audiences in mind, no long grinding sessions that the Asians really like, you can level up to max with just quests if you want, or pvp as well.

Has a really interesting political system, much like WoW Tera is broken up into dozens of smaller territories. Through War or Popular Vote a Guild Leader can take over these territories, and charge taxes, place down shops, teleporters, etc.
To take a territory from a rival guild, you can either wait for the popular vote, or challenge that guild to war. And there are massive GvG battles over these territories, there were some pictures on 4chan of this massive battle with hundreds of players fighting over a territory.

There are no factions, so the pvp will be split into Realm v Realm, Open World, Battleground, and Arena. This is what I am most excited about because of the action game play, have been watching videos of the pvp and its intense and skill based.

The 'Holy Trinity' does exist in this game, as there are tanks and healers, but you don't have to really worry about this. A good enough group can beat any dungeon on the hardest difficulty setting with 5x DPS since it is all skill based and damage can be avoided through blocking or dodging.

Runs on UE3 so there is some occasional texture pop in, but looks really good.

Guide to Playing the JP beta, this took me a while to figure out since it was a lot of trial and error on my part, but I'll try to make it as simple as possible.

Step 1. Internet Explorer

Yes...IE. This site needs Active X controls at one point since it scans your computer to see if it meets the minimum system requirements for the game. This actually took me a minute to figure out, but in hind site it was pretty obvious, just haven't used IE in so long forgot what Active X is.

Step 2. Japaneese Proxy

The site and game launcher are both behind region shields, if you log in from the wrong IP it will boot you out. So everytime you log into the game or use the site, you have to use a proxy.
I used a site called hide my ass then sorted for Japaneese Proxies that were available. Probably better options.
Configure IE, Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings

Step 3. Sign up

Once you have IE configured, point your browser to tera.hangame.co.jp
There look in the right, under Game Start, click the grayed out link under the password box that is the leftmost of the two.
This will take you to a registration page.
Enter your email address
Go to your email, click the link.
This should help you with that portion. http://i.imgur.com/b0YT9.png

Step 4. Beat dat Captcha

This is a bitch, and took me a long time.
Super frustrating part because this language has like 12 cursive h's and b's each with different angles on slashes through the letter, or curls at the end...then there are about 20 or so more letters in their alphabet.
And its a captcha so everything is blurry and hand written
Refresh until you get a legible one, then brute force it.
Some people with more of a visual mind might get better results.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiragana
That is the language, the upper left hand box is the only letters you will need.
After that, they will send you another email. Just delete this...you can't read it anyways.

Step 5. Download Client

Once you have signed up go to http://tera.hangame.co.jp/library/download.nhn
Make sure you have logged in, then click the client download button.
It will walk you through some steps and Active X control to scan your system.
After that is done, You will be on the main download page, scroll down and click the big purple link that says PC in it.
You now have the client.

Step 6. Launcher

The client will take a while to download
You need to select where you want it to download and install the client to.
Once it is done you will have the main Launcher
http://i.imgur.com/9yWah.png
Yellow bar is file progress, Red Bar is Total, greyed out button is game start.
You need to have proxy enabled, log in, then click the start button for it to begin...one more step though

Step 7. Japanese....

Don't worry this is it.
You need to have your whole computer in Asian for the game to actually start up. You can do everything up to this point, but then you have to have your computer's language as japaneese for the client to run.
Not to difficult go to http://www.froggie.sk/
Download Vistalizator
Then download whatever language pack you need, x86 or x64 depending and 7/vista as well.
If you have 7 sp1 installed run Vitalizator in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
Run the app, click install language, then find Japanese, then make sure it runs in express mode.

Step 8. Finally

Final Steps here
Turn on Proxy
Start Client
Log in
(System should be in Japanese)
Click Game Start

At this point you can turn off the proxy

*When you start the game for the first time*
It has to update this security guard software, you need to turn off the proxy in order for this to work.
Go into IE, turn off proxy, close IE
Then restart IE for it to take effect.

This is the server I am on by the way, it is the one highlighted with the (1) inside of it. The White characters are the one you use to identify the server names.

Yes it is, I think I have to force AA some how, because it is obviously not working through that game.

Either through .ini or Nvidia CP...can't find an ini file though...and the config ones are in Japanese ;)

Its actually pretty easy to play, even with the language barrier.

Everything has icons, so you know who the skill trainer is, or general store guy, etc because there is a little icon next to his name and on the map.
At first, I had no idea what to do on quests lol because it is just a big block of Japanese...

I figured out that on most quests, there is a little blue link. If you double click that then it will highlight on the map where that mob or item is.
It seems that about 80% of the quests have that link, some don't and I left the starter area with like 5 quests left over.

There is a main quest though, and that one always has the location highlighted.

Looks similar to Aion (appearance wise). Is the combat system like AoC? It sounds a lot like AoC's combat system.

I honestly have no idea.
Didnt look too much into AoC at the time.
