Is fame only used for upgrading pets?
If so is it worth upgrading a Driedel-Common?

Fame should only be used to upgrade pets (maybe use it for the arena)

That's definitely the main use.
You can also use it to purchase a guild.

Depends on the skills of the Dreidel.
The main skills you're going to want are HP Heal and MP Heal.
Most people look for HP Heal/MP Heal/Electric OR MP Heal/HP Heal/Electric.
I myself started leveling up an HP Heal/Electric/Savage Penguin when pets were first released because I was tired of waiting on one of the pets listed above.
Also I think it'll be nice having Electric and Savage if I can ever achieve that (at this rate I'll probably be 80 years old before then), but I've got an MP/HP/Elecric Uncommon Penguin I'm working on currently,
so I'll have to choose which one I'm going to stick with later on.

Whats the best way to get a pet?
I found an egg in the nexus haha

Farming godlands.
They drop just like potions do.
You can find either Common or Uncommon eggs (Uncommon eggs are Soulbound, so you can only trade for Commons).
Be sure you're level 20 before you try to farm the godlands though.
Watch some YouTube videos, etc., so you know what you're in for.
