I wondered why my game froze. . . apparently I had played too long, and the game never cleared my RAM. . .
Just over 1.5 Gig of RAM was tied up in this game haha :)

Your game should not just freeze.
I personally start to notice lag at about 1.7Gigs. So I try to restart around 1.5-1.8.
