Both to get the max fusion level.

/e: Also if you already don't know, keep the pet with the good abilities on the LEFT when fusing, the one on the right poofs.

yeah, i thought taht was the case, thx for clearing it up though!

Okay, I have a question. Do you need to max both pets that you're fusing? Or just the main pet?

both, because next level it'll be the average sums of the elvel you fused

ex. raccoon uncommon
mheal50
heal 50

fused with another raccoon uncommon
mheal 50
atk close 20

new raccoon will be
raccon rare
50 mheal
35 heal

i believe

Is the second skill based on luck or are there ways to influence what it will be once upgraded to uncommon?

All pets start off with 3 abilities when you hatch them. Those are the abilities that that pet is set with. If you want to find a pet with certain abilities you need to find it on that pet when it is hatched. There is no way to fuse pets and reroll the abilities.

^ Correct.

Here is a link that will help you guys find what type of pet you are looking for. You can also do a mock fusion to see what lvl your 2nd abilities will be in the next tier if you decide not to max them:

Hope I don't sound completely clueless... but how do I use this?

Using the hatching simulator it will show me the chances at finding specific abilities on each egg.
Using the fusion simulator that gives me the corresponding levels with the pets.
However, the skill are predetermined upon hatching the egg right?

What determines the sprite that is generated once fusion happens?

Should I also build a strong fame character and get him killed before making a good character with a good pet?
Currently I only have 181 fame and 0 realm gold I will not be using cash so realm gold is out of the question.
Thanks for the help!!

Correct. Skills are predetermined when you hatch common and uncommon eggs. If you find a rare tier+ egg and hatch it, it's abilities are completely random. There are some common eggs that you can hatch, and will have randomized abilities too, for example the peppermint snail from candylands, and a demon frog egg from abysses. Those are "rare" tier but they drop as common eggs. I know it's weird.
You can check "family" if you are looking for a certain pet or "first ability" to find a pet that can get whatever ability you are looking for. Some families are easier to get heal/mp for the first two abilities than others. The hatching simulator just shows your chances of getting the pet you want within different pet families. The fusion simulator is useful to see where your pet would on the 2nd or 3rd abilities, say if you decided to chose the "max the first ability" route to unlock the max level and not completely max both abilities on your pets.

Sprite change is completely random. There is nothing you can do about this.

As far as fame farming goes, I don't really like going over 230 base fame with a 0/8. With 11% total fame items you can get a flat 700 fame if you do this and get the thirsty, mundane, all the god kill bonuses, all the accurate bonuses, and don't kill any cubes. If you join a fame train in euw2 it takes about an hour or less if the train is decent. For me this seems the best way to gain fame. Anything after 230 is kind of pointless imo unless you are looking to gain stars. The fame gain starts to slow down considerably after that. Here is a handy tool to give you an estimate on your fame with certain bonuses (I believe the creator also uses jsp):

Ofc. :) Please let me know if you have any further questions. Hopefully some of this word vomit helped.

There. Take out the corresponding "dots" and put a . for them. Sorry about that. -_-

After upgrading your pet keeps all abilities from the pet you choose (it was left one if i reember correctly and i guess said above). So once you get good pet (heal-mheal-something or mheal-heal-something, you are guaranteed to keep it if you don't mess up at fusing).

What happens if you get a pet you don't want?
Assuming you do not have your combo yet.

It was in the link, it is not wasted (bad info). You should max second skill too because at lower tiers it is much cheaper.

You let it be or release it (there's some limit in pet place, not sure how high tho. Never had issue with space myself)

So... Is it kind of impossible to max a pet on the first character?

You'd have to spend some cash. You won't have the fame to use. So you'll have to pay gold for feeding/upgrades
