Pretty sure loot tier doesn't affect uts. And honestly I find more value in the uts since I can use them to feed my pet or use on my chars. Never tried a loot drop in a tomb, so not sure how that really works. If they make you go 3/3 every time, maybe it's worth it. But like you said, you would have to do many tombs with an organized group and probably pause to save that potion. But for the hassle, it doesn't really seem worth it to me.
