I personally don't really like using Ass/Csword on any melee character, it just feels too... Strange. If I were to use it, it would be in place of a Csword rather than a straight replacement.
If this is one of your first melee characters you have played and want it to last a while, I would recommend carrying a Csword as well. Not being used to the very reduced ranged + getting slowed in godlands + leviathan walking on your face = ouch.
Builds I see working:
New Knight: Acclaim, Colossus, Acrop, Experimental Ring, with Csword in inventory.
Pros: Pretty normal build. This is the setup I use (minus the Csword).
Cons: If you aren't maxed and not used to knight, you will run out of MP fast.
Chainstunner: Acclaim, Colossus, Resu, Sphinx, with Csword in inventory.
Pros: You get more than double the amount of stuns, nearly triple.
Cons: You take a bit more damage. Vs Acrop + expo, you have 11 less Def.
Tank: Acclaim, Colossus, Candy Coat, Experiemental Ring, Csword in inventory.
Pros: Very high defense.
Cons: -10 dex is a pretty noticeable hit to your damage.
Cheap Knight: Skysplitter, Mith Shield, Abyssal, Exa Def/HP, with Csword in inventory.
Pros: Cheap.
Cons: Not optimal.
