play the close quarters expansion first. they are the smallest maps and should be the easiest to learn. i would suggest the domination game type. it is the closest to cod and you should already know the premise of the game type. if you are worried about k/d then you should just camp. and i would use the medic/support class to start off with. oh and i like hardcore because people actually die when you shoot them.
