So I have a really old 20 gb xbox. Because of the stupidity of the patches, they stack right up and now I cant play when the new patch comes out.

I'm too cheap to buy another $50 + hard drive, so If I were to delete all the BF3 data, and then redownload the latest patch, would that just download the latest 2-3 GB update and not the 10 GB+ I have now? Would this also mean I would lose my B2K maps?

yea each patch has the mapacks. i tried to delete the patches and only have the latest and didnt have b2k

Is there a way to redownload the b2k maps if I were to delete the patches and just get the newest one?

basically the "update" is the new maps. thats why they are big i believe

the new update is only like 1.44 gb if i remember correctly, but there have been like 2-3 updates at least with 2+ gb a piece in the past that all stack (i.e. like 6gb+ or whatever it is). But now that new update will stack on top of the old ones and make it so its one big, unnecessary data clump.

Most of the games I have are all small, except any dlc (like cod maps, skyrim, etc). Its bf3 that takes up over half that memory. I thought about buying a refurb'd hard drive, but idk if its worth the risk. everyone I know said to just buy a new one, but 29.99 + buying transfer cables doesnt sound like a bad idea. seems like a small risk.

up to you.. if you decide to go refurbished you can always take it back if it doesnt work.. ive never had a bad HD though so i wouldnt know
