"DICE developer, Bazajaytee confirmed that Battlefield 3 will have in-game squad management, but has also confirmed a few other things for the community. One of the issues with BC2 was that players could not back out to the game menu while on the death cam. In the Battlefield 3 beta, players aren't able to escape to the main menu until they alive again. Responding to a question about this feature, he said:

It is a feature that did not make it in time for BETA. You can bring up the menu while dead in retail.

Battlelog is a website and like any website, it's down occasionally for maintenance. But what if you wanted to play the singleplayer campaign while the website was down, asked a community member. The answer is yes, "I will add it to my FAQ list but yes, you can play SP when Battlelog is down." So you can boot up the game without Battlelog and enter into the singleplayer campaign, would it be to far to also have a server browser? DICE is very much aware of the want for an in-game server browser; community members have shown that running an internet browser in the background to boot the game can be resource intensive. It's hard to imagine a player booting up Battlefield 3 for the first time, play a mission in singleplayer and then click the multiplayer button only to have their game closed and Battlelog loaded in their browser. Also supporting the possibility is the fact that consoles will have an in-game server browser for Battlefield 3. Battlefield 3's lead platform is PC and then consoles. If consoles have the browser, it's quite likely that the PC version will ship with it as well.

A little bit more information was confirmed for in-game squad management as well. The updated FAQ page shows that users will be able to not only join squads of their choice, create squads, and make them private. Players can also go it alone and not be apart of a squad, mute players, and invite friends to your squad. These little features will really help to improve Battlefield 3's overall teamplay capabilities and entertainment factor.
