Just got the game, first shooter I've ever had on the PC. Thinking I an aim better right now with an xbox controller than a mouse/keyboard.
Anyone got suggestions on how I can go positive? Been using recon and the medic classes a lot.

level up / get better guns / get used to keyboard/mouse

once you get used to kb and mouse.. youll never wanna go back to controller well for fps atleast.

Any suggestions which class to stick with and unlock guns on? and any specific guns you guys like to use?

My biggest problem right now is FINDING people to shoot at. been playing mw3 on the xbox and the maps are so small it's easy to see people and kill them, but for some reason I can never find people to shoot at on bf3 until I'm dead. I might change my resolution to 800x600 instead of windows 1920x1080 so everything's bigger if not, I'l open to suggestions.

Use Q as much as possible
Minimap is friend
use M when camping to see gunshots around you
Learn the maps, areas of population, routes people go.

I used to play Black Ops Nuketown Domination for awhile lol, talk about a small map.

BF3 maps are actually pretty easy to find people with. Get to a good vantage point, use Q to scan the area, find and hunt down noobs

Or learn to fly/gun in the heli/jet lol.

My flying of a heli consists of getting it up it the air then flying backwards and finally abandonning..

As far as the Q button... what does it do? Isn't it request medic?
