Sometimes I think there's too much hate towards this game, maybe because of the hype, I don't know for sure.
In my opinion one of the biggest problems is comparing this game to quake or CS. I mean, if you want to let the faster win, play those games.
In BF teamplay is much more important, and the overall game is so much more complex and various that a comparison is simply not feasible.
I haven't had many chances to play with a good team, but when that happens the game changes.
Scout heli plus a couple of engineers with stingers, rpg, torch AND FLARES (to counter stingers, did you know?), plus a support for infinite ammo aboard. That makes the difference much more than a 10 tick/s.
And there are hundreds of examples where a good teamplay makes such a difference.
Such a complexity can't be achieved without some "sacrifice". Bugs in first stages are one of them. Most of the biggest ones have been solved (1 hit headshot kill, for instance).
I've been a more than decent player in quake and CS, but still enjoy BF4 a lot.
I know I die behind corners sometimes. And wasting a mag shooting a target that is in my crossair and that receives no damage... it happens.
But the immersive atmosphere of the game and the advantage of a strong teamplay makes those bugs vanish in my eyes.
If you don't care about vehicles, teamplay, destroyable environments, tactics and, why not, graphics, then just go back to CS.
Simple as than, no?
PS: sorry for my English.
The problem is that every game in the Battlefield series is centered around public servers instead of organized matches. If there was a built in matchmaking system where you could play 5v5 infantry only or 12v12 conquest or whatever game mode then yea team play and communication would be important. As it is, BF4 is a just a clusterfuck of people doing their own thing. There is basically zero teamplay on public servers, unless you are running with a squad and communicating. People claim that Battlefield requires more teamwork then skill, but the simple truth is that teamwork rarely occurs in a typical game. If the game isn't going to focus on the team aspect, it should at least have a high enough skill ceiling so that good players can dominate public matches. But since the gunplay blows the game is not fun (which is why it the competitive scene is dead for BF4).
