You don't have to be a genius to play a build in d4. I constantly play skills that are not even meta and sometimes not even mentioned in normie sites like maxroll, not even d tier and then I play it and it is comparable to A tier builds or so. Just stack as much multipliers as possible that works on your skill. It's even astonishing how bad are info about the builds in those sites, it can give you some clue, but don't follow it blindly. It's not d2 nerds who can actually find the best build without problems, but of course in d2 you can make some wrong decisions and lose 10% of damage, but in d4 it can be 10 times less, because it's all multipliers
