I did not find any board game subforum so Im posting here, considering the story setting of these games.
Last week they announced a crowdfunding campaign preview for
Diablo RPG - a rulebook with adventures, a similar system to Dungeons&Dragons or other ttrpgs.
*they - a company called Glass Cannon Unplugged, they specialize in making board games from video games IPs, like Frostpunk, Dying Light, Apex Legends, Dont starve, etc
Brief info: - over 300 pages of rules, lore, and maps/illustrations
- mechanics based on a pool of custom d6 dice
- playable classes: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer
- a collection of standalone adventures written by multiple different authors
- players start as seasoned heroes equipped from the start with full gear and abilities
- heavily inspired by Diablo 4, with adventures set in the timeline after Diablo 4
For anyone interested, you can find more info on their website:
https://glasscannonunplugged.com/diablo/There is a
survey there asking which aspects of Diablo games you would like to see in the tabletop version, and a link to their discord.
They are also in the process of developing
Diablo: The Board Game - it is planned to hit kickstarter next year, my guess is at Blizzcon 2026.
It is supposed to be compatible with the RPG, so most likely we're looking at Diablo 4: The Board Game or "post-Diablo 4": The Board Game.
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/405279/diablo-the-board-gameTo me it all feels a bit like a cashgrab or an additional marketing campaign for Diablo 4. Blizz probably sees sales are not good anymore, so they sell the license to another company, another company makes board games and provides free marketing for Diablo 4 among board gamers.
Also what's up with the "you start fully equipped with gear and skills"? That sounds like a casual game for one night and not Diablo experience where you can create your char, choose a build, level skills and synergies and hunt for items.
TBH if this was
Diablo 2 RPG and board game, I'd probably be like: shut up and take my money! Fight with Diablo, Mephisto, Baal and their minions with classic chars on a board sounds fun.
But this... idk, feels dissapointing
Anyone here plays RPGs or board games?
