If you compare d4 to other diablo games which one is much closer to it ?

D4 it’s bad atm very bad

Short answer is - it's just bad.

Current D4? Depends who you ask. After IGN’s famous smear campaign even they turned around and said current D4 this season is the best Diablo has ever been (I disagree with that sentiment).

However In my opinion current state D4 is the second best Diablo game there is. A lot of people hate the itemization and grind (I do too) but ultimately it’s decent.

People forget D2 LoD had very bad itemization too. How many useless uniques are there in D2R? The answer is A SHIT TON. Low quality white items? Bah. Bad runewords? No shortage of those either.

For me it comes down to gameplay. D4 is faster paced and way more arcade-like in its gameplay whereas D2’s gameplay fits the ambience you’d expect from a gothic style isometric arpg.

Btw about this question - it is very close to d3, even visually, but still it has some unique "flavor". Skill system is much worse when compared to d3 for example.

Is ign on drug? The heck? Best diablo ever been. Holy got paid well from blizzard to even think of that idea. D2 has the item diversity, d4? Meh, very linear character building, almost close to no creativity in builds.

To be fair D2 character building is even worse. D3 even worse than that.

D2 didn’t have a ton of diversity in top tiers until D2R really. Heck, Hdins ran things for 10+ years.

D2 is still a better game at this point. Only if blizzard would agree to work with pd2 team. So much potential. But nah, gotta charge you 40$ to be able to use runes or pretty much just quit the game not having them. They indeed has a great sale strategy.
