Topic: What Do You Enjoy About D4?


My wife and I just picked up the expansion bundle for her Steam Deck over the weekend.
I played on PC. We played D4 at launch and haven't touched it since. I forgot how bad the itemization use to be, but it's straightforward now.

TL;DR: D4 is quite fun despite a lot of the mixed feelings the community seems to have.
Maybe they just like to shit on the game, or perhaps we're too new and enjoying the rose colored glasses for now.

What aspects do you enjoy most about the game?
Now that we've completed the game, our alts can start the game in "adventure-mode" style, spending our time in random world events, Tree of Whisper events, dungeons, Strongholds, World Boss, RealmWalkers etc...
We haven't touched the "Pit" yet but I think it might resemble D3 rifts, which were a fun way to get straight to the action and see a variety of environments.

- Currently I like the idea of Whispers and Helltides, where you basically just explore parts of the world but they are ramped up in difficulty and rewards.

We've really enjoyed the leveling process and upgrading rares with legendary aspects to improve your build on the fly. (Once you get to legendary gear, you're pressed to use more limited resources).

Whatever is fun for you might be fun for the rest of us! Post here and I'll add to my D4 bucket list.

I'm too old to enjoy playing games seriously nowadays, will come back when they add something meaningful. I have a hunch set item and runeword rework will be added next expansion

Game blows, you lowered your standards and are trying to tell yourself it's not so bad.. pfft garbage D4 died days before beta gotta launched when they showed their hand and people could see it was bad.. really bad..

Path of Exile 2 will blow this out of the water, D4 is dead and it's never going to come back from this, they're lucky Poe2 didn't launch sooner, that's why they rushed out an Xpac to get the little brains to buy it, congrats you got played

If it was me, I would keep up those realmwalkers and pick boss mat potions. Keep those potions up constantly as the xp bonus is nice and in no time, you will have plenty of materials to fight uber bosses, which really is nice to get a shot at Mythic uniques which for a casual player can really make your character twice as powerful.
Alot of the uniques you both need to make a solid build will come from uber bosses. https://maxroll.gg/d4/resources/boss-loot-table-cheat-sheet is a great resource for me. Spiritborne is so powerful just getting your wife a Kepeleke/Banished Lords Talisman from Duriel and you can jump a few difficulties.

You definitely will want to do pits once you are 60 to at least get your glyphs to 15 just to start.

Did you guys already unlock all the mercenaries? Alot of guides have you choose certain mercs, but you can pretty much choose whichever you like most. Also unlock Undercity as there was some free undercity keys from this most recent event if you haven't picked that stuff up in Kyovashad.

I have all mercenaries and use them as I need. For example, Rahir can also boast your armor by 15% but you want to be fast in pits, Subo is better for the intel to find monster packs. Varyana can stun nicely if you can spam your ultimate and tie her ability to that. My bone necro is level 293, 7 levels to go.

We got to 60 and are going to swap to alts for a change up for a little while. We're certainly playing at a casual pace so it's got our attention for now.
We've been staying away from guides and just putting together builds in game based on the uniques we found. This will change if we're really looking to climb, but for now just noodling around and completing mini-objectives has been satisfying.
