Level 50 in 2 hours is the casual norm right now.
Doing capstones at 35 and 55 is also what everyone and their moms can easily do with their second and third seasonal chars.
Not that that is not fun or so, but is this really what this genre is nowadays conceptwise?
I always feel like levelling characters is work these days. Reaching max. level is not the ultimate goal anymore, like in D1 and D2, its more like the beginning of the journey.
Not saying that is worse per se, just saying its a completely different approach and I dont know if I like it too much.
Same goes for skills and items.
It went from (almost) no cooldowns, almost no restrictions in anything (everyone can wear everything, everyone can find anything, everyone can distribute attribute points anywhere, everyone can kill every boss at any time) to a rather restrictive game loop.
My Barb cant use a bow, my barb cant find a bow (might find like 2 or 3 per season, ok), my barb needs to do this and that to farm bosses because you need to summon them.
We need to summon them cause without summoning gearing up would be too easy, cause the concept is like that. I get that.
Btw., every skill is on a goddamn cool down these days. Why? Wheres the Freedom? Is that all we have to work with? Waiting for a timer instead of strategically timing my attacks and defenses? Okay, I was drifting away without warning. Back to the bosses...
A tormented boss guarantees 5 Uniques. Could you imagine that 20 years ago? This is real inflation. Only restricted by forced material farming.
I mean, it occasionally happened that Mephisto or Baal dropped 4 or 5 Uniques, sure...but guaranteed? What is Unique about the Mighty Bowl of fucking Joritz or Fuckerstep Boots if I have 22 of each after 90 Minutes of Boss farming? Is that really the modern concept of farming?
Is it not better to create an environment of Quality instead of Quantity again?
Why did it all go in this strange direction?
I like D4 by the way, I just dont like it as much as I could like it if it was a bit different.
Perfect the way it was, perfect the way it is now
