In D1 and D2 you could basically equip everything on every character apart from a few class specific items like orbs or Pelts.
But I could swing a Two Hander with my Sorc if I'd wanted to or swing a Staff with my Barb. Not that it always made sense, but I had the freedom to decide for myself.
In D3 they abandoned that and in D4 we reached new heights for this. Shields are for Necros and necros only. Period.
Druids can only use Maces, Swords and Axes. Ranged Weapons are not allowed. No Staves. No Shields.
And so on and so forth....why the hell did they do that? Our drop pool in D4 is completely artificial. Almost everything that drops, drops because of the players character choice.
It just doesnt feel the way randomized loot should feel in my opinion.
It feels restricted and odd. This sucks - or am I wrong?
The game you're looking to play already exists why wish d4 was the same.

The itemization sucks in general. This patch helped but it only moved it from God awful to awful. There's zero dopamine rush seeing a unique cause they're all garbage. If they would take a page out of last epoch book and make way more of the uniques build defining it would help. They also need to be able to have aspects added and be master worked. They are completely pointless right now.
But where they really fucked up is attaching everyone to the damage number on your weapon. It's stupid and lazy.
I'm excited when greater affix legends drop that I can double temper and masterwork, just wish they were different color then every other legendary, idk how aspect are pointless when they usually add depth too any build youre playing
