I’m just confused on when to actually start locking in items for the end game build and start crafting and such like what level is good?

you can coast to 50 in helltides while passively looking for upgrades to do the capstone. by then you'll probably be able to do nm dungeons or whatever method ppl are doing to 100

Im lvl 55 right now and in wt4 so how can I start doing nightmare dungeons?

go back down to WT3 and get a tree of whispers cache to start nm dungeons. how are you in wt4 with this problem?

I’ve been following the Maxroll guide just confused on when I should start acually crafting and locking in items and things what Ilvl and stuff?

there is a section that tells you which items to keep an eye out for. look for legendaries with at least 2/3 (3/4 maybe actually? im still leveling xD) of the affixes your build needs. you can enchant the 3rd affix on and then you use the new mechanic to get the other affixes you need.
ilvl just use the best thing you have - probably prioritizing damage on weapons because i think your summons get all of your stats
